Tachycardia is a faster than normal heart rate. A healthy adult heart beats 60 to 100 times a minute when a person is at rest. If you have tachycardia (tak-ih-KAHR-de-uh), the rate in the upper chambers or lower chambers of the heart, or both, are increased significantly.

Heart rate is controlled by electrical signals sent across heart tissues. Tachycardia occurs when an abnormality in the heart produces rapid electrical signals.

In some cases, tachycardias may cause no symptoms or complications. However, tachycardias can seriously disrupt normal heart function, increase the risk of stroke, or cause sudden cardiac arrest or death.

Treatments may help control a rapid heartbeat or manage diseases contributing to tachycardia.

Question by ROLL TIDE: Can we say for certain, that the heart of America lies in the South?
Just like in the Civil War times, the north needs the southerners resources. Be it industry, cotton, railroads, food production. Fact is, people in the south can do without people in the north. People in the north NEED the south. Therefore, who are the real Americans?

Question by Agnostliconic Lightning Zombie: What’s the scientific facts about Dim Mak?
I can see that it might cause death if you were to hold pressure on a blood artery, refusing blood to pass, and then hitting another artery down the vein in order to close it and explode the heart.

-or hitting certain important nerves in any particular order should cause a lot of pain.

Thoughts?

There are a lot of things that I think are more legend than anything else, or sometimes cause death for whole other reasons than what the “move” is supposed to be causing. Here is a site that covers the move in some detail.

You do realize that this term was coined by a Chinese novelist that wrote Kung Fu stories in the 50′s? It’s fiction.

When a southerner begins spouting off about the Civil War and that it (the south) was right. I ask him “does God favor our endeavors if they are correct?” Knowing their religious fanaticism, they always answer, “yes.” “Oh, that’s why you lost the war!” I always reply. Only silence is then heard from him.

Actually, during the Civil War, the south relied heavily on Africans to pick their cotton, the Chinese to build their railroads, and Upton Sinclair’s ”The Jungle” to improve the production of food.

Who are the Real Americans? I’d say that would be the people who lived here prior to the settlers.

Then again, that’s just history. Everyone knows that the whole ”Real American” thing is your arrogant, partisan rhetoric.

    No.

The south is stuck in the past.

BOTH. Food? Ever heard of the mid-west and the west? They produce a helluva’ lot of food there. Much in the way of food is also imported from overseas. While there is some heavy industry (most has been outsourced) in the north-east, most comes from Asia. With the stupid election returns of 1980-88, 200-08, the rest of the nation could have done without the south.

Not only that, after all the northeast yankees ruined their states, they moved down here and are trying to ruin our states to. I am sick of hearing them say “Up North, we did it like this ….” If it was sooooo good up North, why are you down South. I-95 goes in both directions the last time I checked.

The South is the heart AND soul of America. If you don’t like it, stay out.

  10. Southern Hick December 2, 2011 at 11:05 pm #

Neither the north or the south can stand alone, we rely on them and they rely on us. Do not dis the north for they are apart of this great country and help make it great everyday. You breed disunion and talk as if the north is a burden when its not. The real American is the one who does everything in their power to make the country a better place to live in.

  11. Greg December 2, 2011 at 10:56 pm #

I would go with the central and midwest states. The bread basket of America.

  12. Matt December 2, 2011 at 10:13 pm #

Wrong. Industry and railroads all came from the North. Also the financing and technological innovations came from the north.

If the North was dependent upon Southern resources, they wouldnt have won the Civil War. The fact of the matter is, towards the end of the war, the Southerners were starving, had little to no clothes, no guns or ammo, and no communication between states. The North had the industry, the food, the railroads, the infrastructure, etc etc. The South had a few cash crops like cotton and sugar cane that made up a vast majority of the Southern States’ economy. Most food production was in the western states. Corn, beef, etc etc all came from the west.

So you are blatantly ignorant of history and the economic structures of the North and South. You dont think they had food in the north?

And the brains lie in the north. Its our brains that made us great, not raw material. So we win. Again.

You guys sure could have used a few of our resources right around 1865.

And I don’t think that the “heart of America” is a region that seceded from it.

  15. MisterTattiePie4U December 2, 2011 at 8:48 pm #

People, hint hint, need to realize the USA is ONE country.

  16. Lexicon Devil December 2, 2011 at 8:21 pm #

The heart of America is the White race. Regions are irrelevant. Without us there would be no U.S.

We are all Americans. It does become tiresome to hear the liberals on this site put the south down for having different values then they do or for having a rich culture.
