If you are a typical American, whether you know it or not you consume an unbalanced, obesity-producing diet. People have been urged to “eat the right foods” and to provide plenty of meat, eggs, milk, and cheese for their children. In most areas of the world, this problem of getting enough nourishing food to eat is still of primary importance.

But it is not the problem in America. Our problem is somewhat the opposite: “living too high on the hog.” Our diet is too rich in fat as well as calories, refined sugars, starches, and oils. At the same time, it is low in essential nutriments, minerals and other vital requirements. We are all agreed: the cholesterol found in the blood is made largely in the liver from fats in the diet. It is also believed that cholesterol is produced in the arterial walls themselves. But the main source and the one that we can to a great extent control is fat in our food.

the best for our health is to vary the source of our foods. we can eat almost anything if we eat with common sense and avoid saturated fats.

Heart Healthy Foods

Question by chunkymunky: Food choices!Which is healthy?
I went to the supermarket recently, and it was rather hard for me to find healthy foods. Here’s what i found:

1.Cereals
I like whole grain wheat cereals, with low fat and low sugar. My favourites are unsweetened cereals, like Kelloggs Mini-Wheats Unfrosted.Unfortunately,I discovered this cereal online, and they didn’t sell it in my local supermarket.Eventually I bought Kashi Autumn Wheat, which is lightly sweetened. Can anyone suggest a good cereal?
NOTE:I plan to eat 1/2 cup of cereal with 1 sliced banana and 1/2 glass of low-fat chocolate milk.

2.Waffles/pancakes
My best choice would be whole grain wheat waffles/pancakes with low fat,low sugar and high fiber.Similarly,I found Kashi Go Lean waffles,Kashi Heart to Heart waffles and Kelloggs Eggo Nutri-grain whole wheat low fat waffles online. My local supermarket provide unhealthier choices, made with wheat flour, sugar and other stuff.HELP!
NOTE:I plan to eat these as breakfast, with 1/2 tablespoon of nutella and 1 sliced banana with 1/2 glass of low-fat chocolate milk.
LOL i like both :D

Question by Charlotte Wight: When i eat healthier foods i gain weight?
I am vegetarian and have been for about a year and a half. I started off by cutting out meat and simply eating junk foods in its place. I then started to eat healthy and make sure i was getting everything i needed. I did not gain any weight or lose any weight. I recently decided i wanted to lose weight so i cut out all junk food, and began to eat less. I also began to start eating breakfast (which i never did before) but only fresh fruits. I have started to work out even. Not enough to gain muscle, just to get my heart rate up a bit a few times a day. However, this has caused me to gain weight instead of losing! Is this even possible? What is happening!

burning fat is not that hard when you have good products in your hand. When i was burning fat i found it hard to lose weight natural but then i started buying products and they helped me alot because it gave me motivation.

no,,this cant be possible ..unless you are also maybe excercising ,,which would cause you to build muscles..and muscles weigh more than fat.

either you have just started eating healthy and are excercising and your body hasnt had time to balance out yet..or you are maybe still eating junk foods and not excercising.

changing your diet to only healthy foods is the best thing you can do and will ensure you will lose weight if combine with walking everyday especially.

you can eat how much you like if you stay within these 3 guidelines and still lose fat naturally and gradually. You should lose 10lbs each month on average.

1.eat only steamed lean meats, eggs, healthy fruits ,vegetables, nuts, grains, & yogurt..2. drink only water, juice, & milk..3. walk or do some physical exercise 1-3 hour every day.

(btw, recommend you also to buy an electronic food steamer ((Very cheap)) and a rice cooker as makes it very easy to prepare healthy meals ,,add a bit of olive oil and pepper, spices on top of steamed vegeatables, fish or chicken to add more taste if wish as these are healthy too.)

The eggo nutri-grain whole wheat low fat waffles are my favorite, and you can’t beat nutella! Health wise both options sound pretty similar. I love toaster waffles!!

SPecial K, Cheerios, and some Oatmeals are good choices for cold cereal and they contain less sugar than any other cereals.

At least five servings of fruits and vegetables a day may help prevent development of atherosclerosis.

The fish should have at least twice a week, and one portion should be oily fish. Fat fish (mackerel, salmon, sardines, trout, perch and fresh tuna) provide much useful for the heart of omega 3 fats.

A healthy balanced diet helps to get more out of life in all senses. It also helps reduce the risk of heart attack. After reading these suggestions, think about which of them belong to you and that is worth special attention.
